Three Pedestrians Were Killed in New York

Three Pedestrians Were Killed in New York. A sixty-eight-year-old woman, a fifty-one-year-old man, and a ten-year-old boy are the victims of fatal non-related crashes that occurred on Tuesday. Their deaths rose the number of killed pedestrians to five within one week of the new year.

According to the boy’s friends, who was identified as Sheerjan Panthee and his mother, Mina Panthee, were going to the school bus, when a truck hit them both.

The police reported that the truck was pulling out of a driveway and turning to the right onto 57th Avenue close to 97th Street when it stroke the woman and her son.

Both the mother and her son were taken to Elmhurst Hospital Center, where the boy was pronounced dead. His mother was in a critical condition, but with time her condition improved.

The other fatal accident happened around noon in the Borough Park section of Brooklyn. A sixty-eight-year-old woman was crossing New Utrecht Avenue in the middle of the block near 49th Street when a concrete-mixing truck hit her. The driver of the concrete-mixing truck remained on the scene.

The third accident occurred shortly before 6 p.m. when a fifty-one-year-old man was hit by a bus while he was crossing Fifth Avenue near 59th Street. The bus did not remain on the scene. The man was taken to a hospital where he died later at a hospital. Police are still investigating the accident.

Fatal accidents where pedestrians are killed are a frequent thing. Trucks are becoming bigger, and drivers are often distracted.
