One-year-old Girl Dies in a Hit-and-run Collision

A one-year-old toddler died in a fatal hit-and-run collision that happened in north Houston on Friday night.

The accident occurred late on Friday (around 11 p.m.) in the 4700 block of Aldine Mail Route near the Eastex Freeway.

A Toyota Tacoma was going eastbound when it crashed a curb and overturned, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office said. At that moment, the vehicle directly hit a Nissan Altima with the little girl inside, deputies reported. The driver of the Altima, who is believed to be the girl’s father, was taken to a hospital. For now, his condition is not known.

The driver of the Tacoma was identified as thirty-five-year-old Sergio Milla Iglesias, escaped from the scene.

Later, the police located him and took him to custody.

Iglesias was impaired, Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said.

The toddler was riding in the front seat and was wearing an adult seat belt, deputies said.
