Four LAPD Officers Injured in a Pursuit of Carjacking Which Ends in a Crash

Four LAPD officers were injured on Monday during a pursuit of carjacking suspects ended in a terrible collision. The accident occurred on a freeway onramp in Pacoima.

Early in the morning on Monday (around 4:20 a.m.), the officers were patrolling the Tujunga district, when they saw a white Mercedes-Benz ML350 SUV. They checked the vehicle’s license plate number, and it showed the SUV had been stolen in a carjacking in the Bay Area a day before.

Los Angeles police officers tried to pull over the car, but the driver refused to stop. There were two people in the vehicle. The driver led the officers onto the northward 210 Freeway and westward 118 Freeway.

The Mercedes-Benz exited the 118 Freeway at Glenoaks Boulevard and immediately tried to enter the westward section of the freeway across the street from the exit ramp.

The suspect drove to the exit ramp’s offramp, but lost control over the car and twisted onto the roof.

When the vehicle flipped, one of the police cruisers crashed into the rear of another police SUV.

The officers were injured and taken to the hospital, but they are stable now, and their injuries are not life-threatening.

Two women who were suspected in the carjacking were taken to the hospital with light injuries. It is expected for the suspects to be taken into custody once they are released from the hospital.

Parts of the freeway where the crash occurred were closed during the investigation; the district was opened around nine in the morning, California Highway Patrol informs.
