Monday Fatal Shooting in Washington D.C. Becomes the Sixth Homicide in 2020

The years started with violence in Washington, D.C. Six homicides were reported within the first six days.

The latest occurred on Monday; the police said a woman was fatally shot sometime before 4 p.m. She was identified as twenty-one-year-old Tia Carey of the Southeast. Police have arrested twenty-one-year-old Tierra Posey; she was charged with second-degree murder in connection with the killing.

The same day, around 1:30 p.m. Monday, thirty-eight-year-old Lamar Walters was fatally shot outside a store in the Northeast. Police say two other men were also wounded and managed to walk to the nearest hospital.

Police are investigating the shootings.

On Sunday morning, a man was stabbed to death along D.C’ U Street corridor. The victim was identified as Dy’Mani Priestley (22). The same morning a man was found dead inside a home. Police identified him as a twenty-six-year-old Xavier Tate.

Both murders are under investigation.

On Saturday night, officers found a dead man, thirty-nine-year-old Anthony Ward. He was shot several times, and the detectives are still investigating the murder.
