Crash Alert: Toddler among five dead in head-on crash on US 59

WHARTON COUNTY, TX – Five people, including a toddler, died in a collision on US 59 near the FM 961 and Highway 60 exit on Sunday morning.

According to abc13, a black Cadillac SUV was heading south on US 59 when it crossed the grassy median into the northbound lanes. It hit a Nissan Altima head-on, killing four of the people inside, including a 2-and-a-half-year-old toddler. The driver of the Cadillac also died.

A 6-month-old baby who was riding in the Nissan was airlifted to an area hospital for treatment.

It is not clear what caused the driver of the Cadillac to lose control of the vehicle.
