Crash Alert: One killed in possible drunk driving accident on US 290

HOUSTON, TX – The Houston Chronicle reports that a woman was killed in a possible drunk driving accident on US 290 this morning.

The driver of a Jeep Cherokee allegedly struck both a box truck and a Nissan that were stopped due to a prior crash near the intersection of US 290 and Antoine Drive. The driver of the Nissan and a passenger became trapped inside the crushed vehicle. The unidentified female driver was declared dead at an area hospital.

The driver of the Jeep was also rushed to the hospital but he escaped from paramedics before he could be checked into the facility. Authorities believe he was intoxicated at the time of the crash — a wine bottle was found in his car.
