Crash Alert: Man dies after suspected DUI driver crashes on Highway 59

VICTORIA, TX – A man died last Wednesday when a suspected drunk driver hit his van head-on, forcing his vehicle off of the side of Highway 59.

ABC 25 reports that Bryan Tamayo, 28, was driving on the Highway 59 overpass early Wednesday morning when he crashed head-on into a van coming from the opposite direction. The van was forced into a guardrail and then off the roadway, where it rolled over and landed on its roof.

Dominique Joiner, the van’s 36-year-old driver, died at the scene. Neither Tamayo nor his passenger, Jose Garza, was injured in the crash. Tamayo is currently being held at Victoria County Jail on an intoxication manslaughter charge.
