Crash Alert: Bystander injured during chase in north Houston

HOUSTON, TX – A collision led to a chase that ended in an injured bystander and a damaged building in north Houston Monday, ABC 13 reports.

The incident began near Airline Drive and North Loop, when a pickup truck collided with a BMW. The pickup fled north on Airline, and the driver of the BMW gave pursuit. The pickup eventually drove into oncoming traffic and t-boned a passenger vehicle at the intersection of Airline and Crosstimbers Street before slamming into a nearby building. The driver got out of the pickup and fled on foot, while the BMW drove away.

A tow truck driver witnessed the crash and freed a woman from the t-boned passenger vehicle, which had caught fire. Her current condition is unknown.

Police eventually found the pickup truck’s driver hiding in an unhoused person’s tent near a Walmart close to the scene of the collision. He is facing unknown criminal charges.

The driver of the BMW remains at large.
