Crash Alert: 23-year-old Driver Dies In Collision On Hwy 290

HOUSTON, TX – A 23-year-old driver died in a multi-car collision on Highway 290 near W Tidwell Rd early on Monday morning, KHOU reports.

According to KHOU, the events unfolded around 2 a.m. on Monday. The driver of a Toyota sideswiped a Chevy Malibu while driving westbound on 290. Both vehicles spun out, causing the Toyota to hit a a Chrysler and then slam into the concrete barrier twice.

The driver of the Toyota was ejected onto the other side of the highway, where he was hit by a Harris County Pct. 4 constable deputy. Hewas pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Chrysler was hospitalized in stable condition.

According to KHOU, the constable deputy was en route to the Joint Processing Center with a prisoner at the time of the crash. None of the drivers involved showed signs of intoxication, but police are still investigating.

Highway 290 was closed in both directions for six hours.
