Crash Alert: 1 killed, 1 injured when car splits in half on Gulf Freeway

HOUSTON, TX – A man died and a woman was critically injured in a major car accident on the Gulf Freeway feeder near Scarsdale Blvd that split their vehicle in half.

Abc13 reports that the accident happened early Saturday morning at around 3:20 a.m. The 25-year-old driver of a red Pontiac Grand Prix was speeding eastbound on the Gulf Freeway when they lost control and hit a tree, throwing both the driver and their passenger, also 25, from the vehicle.

The man died at the scene and the woman is currently receiving treatment at a local hospital. It is unclear who was driving.

Police are still investigating the contributing factors of the accident.
