Crash Alert: Man Dies In Hit-and-Run When Trying to Help Another Person

HOUSTON, TX – A Good Samaritan was killed last week after he got out of his vehicle to help the victim of a car accident on Almeda Road near Mowery Road.

KHOU reports that the incident happened at around 10:15 p.m. on Saturday. In the initial accident, the driver of an SUV was struck by a speeding Hyundai Veloster as the SUV turned onto Mowery Rd. The Hyundai subsequently caught fire, so the driver of the SUV exited his vehicle to help the other driver.

He was then struck by a Ford F-150 pickup truck and dragged 30 feet. Witnesses say the Ford drove off without stopping.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Hyundai, who caused the initial accident, was taken to a nearby hospital. His condition is not known at this time.

Police are still searching for the driver of the Ford pickup.
