Melissa Valdez has been a bankruptcy and consumer law attorney for over 12 years, and she holds a TBLS Board Certification in Consumer Bankruptcy Law. Melissa has represented debtors, creditors, and attorneys in matters spanning bankruptcy, foreclosure litigation, and consumer rights law. Melissa joined McDonald Worley because of the firm’s shared commitment to helping clients and advocating for those who need it most.
Melissa received her B.A. from the University of Houston and her J.D. from Rutgers School of Law. During law school, Melissa participated in a Bankruptcy Pro Bono clinic and competed on multiple moot court teams including the Vis International Moot Court team that competed with teams across the world in Vienna, Austria. Melissa also had the honor of studying abroad under then Chief Justice William H. Rehnquist. After law school, Melissa spent a year clerking in the New Jersey Superior Court.
Melissa is a member of the Moller Foltz American Inn of Court, the Houston Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys, and the Texas Bar Association’s Bankruptcy Section. She is also a member of the Epsilon Sigma Alpha service organization and volunteers her time with St. Jude Children’s Hospital and several local charitable organizations.
